From First Aid Training to Promoting Road Safety
In 2024, the URGO Foundation strengthens its initiatives in health and safety in Vietnam. With varied projects ranging from first aid training in partnership with Pharmacity and the Vietnamese Red Cross to promoting road safety in collaboration with Grab, the Foundation continues to expand its positive impact.
The journey of the URGO Foundation began with a significant focus on first aid. In collaboration with Pharmacity and the Vietnamese Red Cross, the Foundation launched the “First-aid Next Door” project. Between 2022 and 2023, this project trained over 600 pharmacists nationwide in essential lifesaving skills. Continuing this effort in 2024, the Foundation has already trained 193 pharmacists in five different cities and plans to train 100 more by the end of the year.
The URGO Foundation does not stop there and has also partnered with Grab, the local equivalent of Uber, to promote first aid knowledge among Vietnamese drivers. To support road safety, the Foundation will provide Red Cross first aid training videos, accessible directly on the Grab app. These videos will enable drivers to learn lifesaving techniques. Additionally, the Foundation will distribute 1,000 first aid kits to Grab drivers.
The project will officially launch on September 19, 2024, coinciding with Road Safety Month in Vietnam. The launch day will include an initial training session for 40 Grab drivers, followed by a press conference to present the initiative to the public. This innovative partnership aims to equip Grab drivers with the necessary knowledge to respond in emergencies on the road, thereby enhancing the safety of all road users.
By working closely with local partners and focusing on training and prevention, the Foundation demonstrates its ongoing commitment to a safer future for all. With new projects underway and strong collaborations, the URGO Foundation continues to make a significant difference in the lives of Vietnamese people.
