Presentation of scientific awards in Germany 1920 1271 The Urgo Foundation

In October 2013, the Urgo Foundation awarded the Germany scientific awards in Wound healing during the Congress held at Montfort Castle in Langenargen under the chairmanship of Professor Dissemond

For this 2013 edition, 24 publications were submitted:
• 14 publications by doctors,
• 10 publications by nurses,
• Of which 18 publications from Germany, 5 from Austria and 1 from Switzerland

Of these, 6 were chosen for an award and funding ranging from €2,000 to €5,000:

The Germany Scientific Award nurse category was awarded to S. Koller, a nurse, for her work on the side effects of compression therapy. This procedure, which aims to stimulate venous insufficiency and promote healing of ulcers, can indeed cause side effects. The publication by S. Koller presented possible sources of these effects and how to avoid them.

First place in the 2013 Scientific Award doctor category went to Doctor M. Weindorf for his work on pyoderma gangrenosum, a disease which generates tissue necrosis and causes deep ulcers. His publication presents the results of a multicentre study (simultaneously in several different locations) in 121 patients. Congratulations to all concerned…
