An International Meeting to Advance the Management of Irritable Bowel Syndrome
The IBS Days, a flagship event to explore current and future perspectives in the field of irritable bowel syndrome, were held in Bologna, Italy. Organized from June 17 to 19, 2024, this event brought together 300 gastroenterologists from around the world.
The event program included a series of state-of-the-art conferences presented during plenary sessions focused on irritable bowel syndrome, the presentation of original research, as well as numerous opportunities for scientific exchanges and collaborations. Topics covered included epidemiology, genetic influences, the role of diet, the microbiome, immune pathways, infectious triggers, diagnostic modalities, advances in biomarkers, and therapeutic interventions.
Thanks to the ongoing work of Professors Barbara and Stanghellini, Bologna continues to position itself as a nerve center for research and innovation in this field. The URGO Foundation, with its mission to invest in chronic pain-related pathologies and its unwavering commitment to improving patient care, naturally found its place in this major event.
The future looks promising with strengthened international collaborations and continuous scientific advancements.
