In Vietnam, eczema remains a widespread but poorly understood condition, both among parents and pharmacists. It is often treated solely with corticosteroids, even though alternative solutions exist. Humidity and local pollution can aggravate symptoms and complicate patients’ daily lives.
To meet this need, the URGO Foundation, in partnership with Long Chau* and the dermatology hospitals of Hô Chi Minh and Hanoi, launched Eczema Month last May – an initiative aimed at better informing patients and facilitating their access to professional advice.
💬 Supporting families over the long term
The main aim was to give patients and their families a better understanding of eczema, its causes, and the various treatment options available, beyond corticosteroid therapy. The project also strengthened the information available to pharmacists.
🏥 Concrete action in the field
- Nearly 800 patients benefited from free consultations at :
– Hô Chi Minh City Dermatology Hospital (May 5 to 16, 2025)
– Hanoi Dermatology Hospital (May 19-30, 2025) -
A livestream hosted by dermatologists, broadcast on May 15th with the support of the Long Chau pharmacy chain, raised public awareness via social networks. Over 800,000 patients logged on!
- A presence in pharmacies throughout the month extended the discussion with patients and trained pharmacy teams.
❤️ Why it matters
Eczema can profoundly affect quality of life, especially when misunderstood or poorly treated. This month-long initiative has given hundreds of patients access to specialist advice, encouraged more responsible care and helped to break down preconceived ideas about the condition.
👏 Well done to the URGO Foundation teams for this wonderful mobilization in favor of patients.
