An event dedicated to Groupe URGO employees to inform and support those affected and their families.
On September 30, 2024, the URGO Foundation organized an endometriosis awareness day for its employees at the Paris site. With 29 participants, the event addressed a subject that is still too often misunderstood, in collaboration with the Endomind association and Tiphaine Chaillou-Lebrun, creator of the Instagram account Journal de l’endométriose and the podcast Parlons d’Endo.
Endometriosis is a gynecological disease that affects between 2 and 4 million women in France. This gynecological disease, marked by disabling pain, chronic fatigue and sometimes complications such as infertility, is still poorly understood and often neglected. Faced with this reality, the Fondation URGO has committed itself, from 2021, to the fight against pain, with a particular focus on endometriosis. On September 30, 2024, it organized an awareness day for employees at the Paris site, in partnership with the Endomind association and Tiphaine Chaillou-Lebrun, creator of the podcast Parlons d’Endo. The aim was to gain a better understanding of the symptoms and their impact on daily life, and to share tips on how to improve patient care.
The day’s events provided an insight into the symptoms of the disease and the daily challenges faced by sufferers. Endometriosis goes far beyond menstrual pain: it can have serious consequences for the professional, social and family lives of sufferers. The testimonies gathered highlighted the considerable impact this disease can have on the quality of life of affected women, ranging from professional absenteeism to social isolation.
But the day was not just about talking about patients. Particular emphasis was placed on the essential role of caregivers. Whether partners, family members or colleagues, caregivers are often on the front line in supporting patients in their daily lives. For women with endometriosis, knowing they can count on an informed and caring entourage is crucial. Not only does this help them manage the disease more effectively, it also reduces the mental and emotional pressure. By understanding the specifics of the disease, caregivers can offer more appropriate support, both emotionally and logistically.
Feedback from the event was very positive. The employees present emphasized the importance of raising awareness among both sufferers and those around them, in order to create a more inclusive working and living environment. Given the scale of the challenge, the Fondation URGO intends to continue its actions to raise awareness of endometriosis, with the aim of improving the well-being of those affected and strengthening support for caregivers. Encouraged by these results, it wishes to continue these actions, with the ambition of organizing new days to inform, support and form a virtuous circle of solidarity around sufferers and their loved ones. URGO employees are proud to take part in this initiative, which combines a commitment to women and raising awareness of an essential health issue such as endometriosis.
Committed to a future where patients and caregivers are no longer alone, the URGO Foundation is already planning new initiatives for the months ahead.
