Committed since 2018 alongside the Ivoiry Coast ‘s Red Cross, the URGO Foundation is expanding its commitments to Senegal this year!
In Senegal, a third of deaths of children under 5 are due to malnutrition. Faced with this observation, the URGO Foundation is committed to developing a support project for the Kaffrine health district in the management of severe acute malnutrition & moderate acute malnutrition, alongside the Senegalese Red Cross.
The objective of this partnership? To improve the nutritional situation of children under 5 and pregnant and breastfeeding women. To achieve this, the two partners wish to collaborate with doctors recognized for their expertise in the field, who will train local healthcare professionals in the proper management of severe or moderate malnutrition.
In parallel with these training sessions, actions to raise local communities awareness are implemented. The objective is to have a global impact on all players to stem this major health issue. Among these awareness-raising actions: malnutrition screening operations, management of severe and moderate malnutrition cases, capacity building for service providers undergoing training, equipping structures with anthropometric materials, as well as prevention.
This new partnership is in line with the missions of the Foundation, which has been committed since its creation in 2010 to supporting and training healthcare professionals in order to help patients heal better!
