Therapeutic cleansing for better healing in Canada 2560 1707 Fondation Urgo

On September 15th, the URGO Foundation organized a training day in Alberta dedicated to the cleaning and debridement of wounds. Nearly 100 nurses, both specialized and generalist, took part in this second session of the year in Canada.

Practices That Need Improvement

This initiative aimed to address a concerning reality: 75% of wounds are not debrided often enough, and 95% of specialized nurses still use saline solution, which is not effective in reducing infections or promoting healing.

Experts Driving Tangible Results

Guided by wound care experts Michele Labbie and Andy Chua, participants alternated between lectures and hands-on workshops to acquire tools they can apply directly in their daily practice. The objectives were clear: strengthen continuous education, close the gap between guidelines and real-life practice, and improve patient care.

The results are promising: 98% of participants reported an improvement in their skills. A significant step forward for care quality and public health.

Through these training sessions for healthcare professionals, the URGO Foundation reaffirms its commitment to improving patients’ quality of life.
