The initiative, promoted and organized by Urgo Foundation under the scientific responsibility of Dr. Francesco Raffelini (Medical Director in Orthopedics and Traumatology at ICLAS – Rapallo) and Dr. Laura Mori (Associate Professor at DINOGMI (University of Genoa) and Medical Director at the Neurorehabilitation Clinic of the San Martino Polyclinic Hospital IRCCS – Genoa, and Regional Secretary for Liguria, SIMFER), brought together experts in the field to discuss the integration of different medical and therapeutic disciplines. Numerous specialists participated, including orthopedic surgeons, physiatrists, radiologists, and physiotherapists, for a full day of in-depth exploration and discussion on the latest strategies for managing the complex conditions affecting this joint.
The first part of the day was entirely dedicated to rotator cuff tendinopathy. Topics included tendon anatomy and pathophysiology, with a focus on the crucial role of hypoxia, neo angiogenesis, and collagen in degenerative processes. The program then examined clinical assessment and instrumental diagnostic options, with particular attention to the current role of ultrasound and interventional radiology.
The afternoon session focused on shoulder osteoarthritis, starting from the triggering factors and underlying mechanisms—such as metabolic disorders, inflammation, and degeneration—before addressing the clinical framework of the different forms (concentric and eccentric) and radiological imaging. Subsequent presentations guided participants through treatment options, highlighting the integration of minimally invasive approaches with advanced surgical techniques.

Both sessions concluded with roundtable discussions, fostering open debate and exchange between speakers and attendees.
The day represented an opportunity for professional development for all practitioners managing patients with shoulder pathologies, offering a comprehensive and integrated overview of current knowledge and techniques.
