In September, the DEBRA Foundation organized the 32ᵉ Regional Meeting in Barranquilla, Colombia. This event brought together patients, families and healthcare professionals around a common goal: to improve the management of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) through education and a multidisciplinary approach to care.

Over several days, educational workshops were offered on key topics such as nutrition, legal aspects, wound management, psychology and inclusion. At the same time, patients received personalized support from a team of specialists including nutritionists, dentists, physiotherapists, psychologists, dermatologists and dermatopediatricians, ensuring a holistic approach to their care.

A collective commitment to better support

This event was made possible thanks to the support of the Fondation URGO alongside partners such as Molnlycke and Convatec. Each of these organizations contributed with donations and gift kits for patients and their families. In collaboration with its distributor in Colombia, IQ Innovaciones Quirúrgicas, the Fondation URGO donated a kit including a book, coloring material, product samples and information materials, to raise awareness and provide solutions tailored to patients’ needs.

Raising awareness and passing on know-how

As part of the event, the Fondation URGO also hosted a presentation on EB care technologies. This session highlighted the features and benefits of our products for patients and their caregivers, as well as for the healthcare professionals in attendance.

A key moment of the event was the intervention of Mariana, a specialist in Epidermolysis Bullosa in Brazil, who trained dermatologists and volunteer nurses in the proper use of skincare technologies. Her expertise reinforced the importance of a specialized, technical approach to ensure optimal patient care. The meeting, which took place from Thursday September 26 to Sunday September 29, once again demonstrated the importance of collaboration between healthcare professionals, associations and committed companies. It represents an essential initiative to improve the quality of life of EB patients and promote solutions tailored to their needs.
