For the past two years, the war in Ukraine has had a negative impact on people’s access to healthcare. More than ever, people need support to overcome shortages of medicines, doctors and hospital space…
Since its creation, the URGO Foundation has been committed to the fight against epidermolysis bullosa, a rare genetic skin and tissue disease that affects many children around the world. So, in 2022, the Fondation Urgo naturally lent its support to DEBRA Ukraine. This non-profit organization supports Ukrainian children and adults suffering from epidermolysis bullosa.
The donations have enabled the association to support numerous patients, giving them free access to essential medical care: medicines, antiseptic treatments, ophthalmological consultations, dental treatment, nutrition, medical tests…
These donations are perfectly in line with the mission of the URGO Foundation, whose aim is to make a tangible improvement to the quality of life and health of patients, whose care must be maintained on a daily basis.
Epidermolysis bullosa is a group of rare diseases that cause the skin to become skin fragile and easily cause bubbles (like blisters) with each rubbing or spontaneously, giving way to sores. They can appear anywhere on the body. In the most serious cases, blisters can also appear inside the body on mucous membranes, particularly in the mouth, oesophagus, stomach, intestines, upper respiratory tract, bladder and genitals.
