Urgo Foundation is offering a Diabetic Foot Disease Grant to support Innovative Projects aiming at improving Diabetic Foot Ulcer Prevention and Management in the Asia Pacific Region.
Healthcare Professionals, Researchers, Healthcare and Engineering Students working in the Diabetic Foot Disease field are eligible to apply!
Proposed projects should be focused on innovation in Diabetic Foot Disease prevention and management. Think out of the box!
Grants between 5,000€ & 10,000€ will be awarded, depending on the needs of each project.

Who is eligible for this Grant ?
Projects can be submitted by healthcare professionals, researchers working in the DFD field or healthcare & engineering students. There is no restriction on length of professional experience. The main applicant has to be affiliated to a health service, university or similar.
The Grants is for projects to be run in Asia-Pacific (East Asia, South Asia, South East Asia, Oceania)Type of projects that can be submitted
- Development of practical tools for DFD assessment
- Caregivers education and training
- Devices to improve infection management, wound debridement, etc
- Projects to improve patient compliance
- Research project
- Quality improvement review
- Etc
What are the Criteria of selection for this Grant ?
- The value brought by the project to improve DFD Prevention and Management in APAC
- The innovative nature of the project
- The quality of the proposal with clear objectives in line with the Grants aims
- The feasibility and timeline of the project – to be completed within one year
- The adequacy of the requested budget for the project
How will the application be reviewed ?
All applications will be assessed by an expert committee that will consist of experts with appropriate qualifications to review the quality, feasibility and novelty of the applications. The experts will be from different countries and diverse backgrounds (podiatrist, diabetologist, orthopedic surgeons, etc).
The judging panel will use a scoring / evaluation grid to assess.How many projects will be selected ?
The expert committee will reward 2 to 4 projects with a Grant between 5,000 & 10,000 EUR.
What are the costs that will be covered in the Grant ?
Direct operating costs, including materials and services; Equipment and devices; some salary expenses of the main applicant
Administrative expenses that are not directly related to this project cannot be covered.Can I have co-applicants ?
The main applicant can have co-applicants if it brings additional value to the project. The number of applicants won’t have any impact on the selection process.

The application must be in English.
How can I make sure that my application was well received ?
You will receive an email acknowledging that we received your application.
How long does it take to get an answer to my application ?
The judging committee will share the projects selected in October 2022, on Urgo Foundation & Urgo Medical online platforms.
All applicants will also receive an answer to their application by email in October 2022.
If I am successful in my application, when will I receive the Grant ?
Successful applicants will be able to use their Grants as soon as the project is selected, in October 2022. Funding should be spent within 12 months of the award being granted.
How will the project be monitored ?
A progress report will be expected at the 6-months mark & a final report at the end of the project (12 months).
What should be included in the final report ?
Outcomes of the project, an audit of the expenditures, plans for communicating on the project (publication, presentation to conferences, etc).
Are Grants ever awarded for a different amount than the amount requested ?
Awards will not be granted for an amount greater than requested.
Are we allowed to submit more than one application ?
Yes it is allowed if the submissions are for 2 different projects.
