Since 2022, the international NGO Dermatologists for Children (DEBRA Ukraine) has been working tirelessly to help Ukrainian children suffering from epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a rare and debilitating genetic disease. In the difficult context of the war in Ukraine, DEBRA Ukraine launched the “Fragile but Unbroken” project to meet the urgent medical and humanitarian needs of EB patients, also known as “butterfly children”.
In June 2024, the URGO Foundation contributed to this project with a donation of €8,000, enabling DEBRA Ukraine to continue its vital support. Between June and December 2024, this financial support enabled 22 Ukrainian patients (41 cases of assistance) to be cared for through the purchase of medicines, medical nutrition products, skin and wound care, as well as medical services such as analyses, diagnostics and dental care. The funds also covered the cost of transport to the EB center in Kyiv.
The URGO Foundation is proud to contribute to this essential mission, and reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that improve the lives of people affected by rare diseases.
