Many minor incidents and accidents do not require a visit to the doctor or emergency room. Today, pharmacies are the first point of call for free, no-appointment health consultations. However, consulting a pharmacist is not always a reflex. Yet first aid can save lives, so it’s vital that patients have easy access to local care.
Co-constructed by the PUPS (Pharmacie Urgence Premiers Secours – Pharmacy Emergency First Aid) association and the Chamber of Pharmacists of Paris (CSPP-FSPF), and supported by the URGO Foundation, this program aims at reminding pharmacists of the reflexes adapted to each emergency situation.
With face-to-face and e-learning modules, this training program is offered to a wide target group of pharmacists throughout France.
In Vietnam, over 1.3 million minor domestic injuries are recorded every year. However, accident prevention and knowledge of first-aid techniques are poorly known by the population.
To meet this need, the URGO Foundation, the Vietnamese Red Cross and a major pharmacy chain, Pharmacity*, have joined forces to launch the First Aid Next Door program. By broadening the pharmacist’s mission, the program aims at facilitating access to first aid for the Vietnamese population.
This certified training, accredited by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health, enables pharmacists to provide basic care for minor injuries, reducing the need to consult a doctor or go to hospital.
*Pharmacity is the second largest pharmacy chain in Vietnam, with over 1,00 outlets and nearly 6,000 pharmacists.
